Good Afternoon, Kindergarten- 5th grade families. Your scholar has been working hard to create an amazing piece of art for our annual Square1Art fundraiser. You have the opportunity to order your child's artwork on custom keepsakes. Check with your scholar for the custom catalog that they received today. Ordering begins today and will run through November 20th. These keepsakes make great gifts! If you have any questions, please contact our art teacher, Mrs. Wooten.

Weekly Announcements November 4th - November 8th.
Tuesday, November 5th is a non-school day for MMA scholars. There is no school for us on Tuesday.
4th and 5th grade students will attend an NC Symphony performance on Wednesday, November 6th. Students have been learning about the beautiful music and talented composers that will be featured in the performance during Music Class for the past several weeks. Unfortunately, parents are not allowed to attend the concert, due to limited space. If you have not filled out your child's permission form for this trip, please do so as soon as possible. We are so excited about this amazing opportunity for our scholars and would like to see all our 4th and 5th graders attend. Please return the permission slip.
Girl's Basketball tryouts continue this week and Boy's Basketball tryouts are also taking place this week. There will be an interest meeting for Wrestling on Wednesday, November 6th after school at MMA. Male and female 6th, 7th, and 8th graders can Wrestle if they meet all eligibility requirements for current physicals, grades, and attendance.
Looking ahead, please mark your calendars, Monday, November 11th is a non-school day for students and staff in honor of Veteran's Day.
The Book Fair will be open through Thursday, November 7th.


Due to a driver shortage, Bus 317/332 will be dismissing from MMA's campus at 2:30. Bus 350 will be dropping those students off. Again, these students will arrive to their destinations early today. We are sorry for the inconvenience. If anyone is interested in becoming a bus driver, please contact Ms. Echel.

UPDATE & CHANGE: Girls basketball tryouts will begin on Thursday, October 31st, and will take place at the Pattillo Middle School gym.
Girls basketball tryouts will not begin until Thursday and will be at Pattillo. A bus will transport them from MMA to Pattillo, but all rides must pick up scholars from Pattillo.


Weekly Announcements: October 28th - November 1st.
There is a home football game on Monday, October 28th at THS.
Report Cards go home on Tuesday, October 29th. Please be sure to ask your scholar for their report card on Tuesday.
Girls basketball tryouts for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders begin on Wednesday, October 30th. Scholars must have an up-to-date physical on file to participate. Boys basketball tryouts will begin on November 4th.
The Book Fair begins on Thursday, October 31st, and be on the lookout for our Square 1 Art Fundraiser in early November.
We will allow costumes on Thursday, October 31st, with the following parameters: no masks or face coverings; no props that resemble a weapon or anything meant to be used as a weapon; no blow-up or inflatable costumes; no oversized costumes; no costumes that are overly gory, scary, or convey violence.

We hope everyone is planning to join us for Happy Healthy Halloween on Tuesday, October 22nd from 5:30 to 6:30 PM. All families and siblings are welcome to join us. Costumes are okay, but not required. We do ask no "weapon props" with any costumes. Join us at 5:30 to trick-or-treat for healthy snacks and healthy facts. We will see you here at MMA tomorrow evening.
Friday, October 25th is a non-student day. It is a work day for staff. There is no school for scholars on Friday.
Football has their last home game of the regular season this Thursday, October 24th.
Pattillo/MMA 2024-25 Basketball Tryout coming soon. Girls basketball tryouts will begin on Oct 30th-Nov 1st at MMA gym from 4:00-6:00 pm. Boys basketball tryouts will begin on Nov 4th-Nov 6th at MMA gym from 4:00-6:00 pm.
To participate students must meet the following requirements:
- Have a current athletic physical on file or ready to hand to coach before the start they can start tryouts.
- Have passed 3 out of 4 classes last Spring semester(Spring 2024)
- Not have turned 15 before August 31.
All Students grades 6-8th can participate in basketball tryouts if all eligibility requirements are met.


Route 317 (332/552) will be running about 15 minutes behind. Thank you for your understanding.

Due to their designation as polling places for the upcoming election, five ECPS schools will be closed on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. These schools include:
D.S. Johnson Elementary School
G.W. Bulluck Elementary School
J.W. Parker Middle School
Martin Millennium Academy
Phillips Middle School
This closure is a calendar change approved by the Edgecombe County Board of Education on Monday, October 14, 2024. While these schools will not hold classes, it will be a required workday for their staff. All other schools in the district will operate on a regular schedule with a full day of instruction.

Candy Man Orders Are In and Ready for Pick Up! We will host three different times for your Candy Man orders to be picked up. All items must be picked up in person; items will not be sent home on the bus. All items will be picked up in the front of the Auditorium (the brick building beside the gym) You do NOT need to check in to the front office first; you can report straight to the Auditorium.
Pick Up Times Are As Follows:
- Wednesday, 10.16 from 8:15 AM to 3:00 PM
- Thursday, 10.17 from 8:15 AM to 4:30 PM
- Friday, 10.18 from 8:15 AM to 3:00 PM
Mark your calendars for our next Family Cambridge Global Night. We will host Happy Healthy Halloween on Tuesday, October, 29th from 5:30 to 6:30 PM. All families are welcome to join us to trick-or-treat for healthy snacks and healthy facts.
As part of our Cambridge Global Health Month, we are seizing the opportunity to serve others and collecting money for the Edgecombe Cance Support Foundation through the end of the month. Please send donations to your scholar's homeroom teacher.
In athletics this week, Soccer and Volleyball is away on Monday at West Edgecombe Middle and home on Wednesday. Football is away at Parker Middle School on Thursday.

Please remember our annual "Walk to School Day" will be this Thursday, October 10, 2024. Car riders will need to be dropped off at the Town Commons. Walkers will need to meet at the Town Commons. Buses will be dropped off there as well. We will all walk to school together.

Walk to School Day is this Thursday, October 10th. Please make sure you've returned the Walk to School form. We will all meet at the Town Commons between 7:40 AM and 8:10 AM. The walk will begin at 8:10 AM. We invite you all to join us and let's walk to school together! Walk to School Day is a great way to kick off our Global Health Month!
Fall picture day is Friday, October 11th.
