Thank you for a successful first week of morning arrivals and drop-offs. We look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday morning.

Good evening, G.W. Carver families! This is Ms. Palmer, your principal. Our commitment to excellence has shone through, with students settling into their routines seamlessly and teachers delivering engaging lessons right from the start. Thank you all for your cooperation and support—it’s been crucial to our success.
I’m also excited to announce that our Pre-K program starts this week with staggered enrollment! We can’t wait to welcome our youngest learners to the school community. If you have a Pre-K and older scholar, please refer to the arrival and dismissal procedures shared on the app and Facebook. All K-5 car riders must enter through the front entrance. Pre-K scholars will be dismissed at 3:00; please pick up your Pre-K scholar first and then enter the next youngest dismissal location.
Mrs. Thorne has been working with the bus garage to get updated bus routes. Please be patient as we work to ensure all of our Eagles have their bus information and that our drivers learn the updated routes.
Our K-5 scholars began their iReady math assessments last week and will start their mClass reading assessments with their teachers one-on-one.
At this time, K-5 scholars should have brought home a letter to connect families to the Rooms platform on the ECPS app. We apologize for any technical difficulties you may have experienced. Please let your child's teacher or front office know if you did not receive a letter.
Please remember that we will not have school tomorrow, Monday, September 2, due to Labor Day. We look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday morning. Have an excellent rest of your weekend. Soar High, Eagles!

This afternoon, we were honored by a special visit from Mr. Eddie Pettaway, who brought his annual delivery of beautiful mums to brighten our central office and schools.
Mr. Pettaway, a cherished former custodian who dedicated many years to serving our schools, continues to show his love and commitment to our community through this thoughtful gesture. His ongoing kindness not only enhances our work environment but also serves as a powerful reminder of the positive impact one person can make.
We are deeply grateful for Mr. Pettaway's enduring dedication and the inspiration he brings to us all. Thank you, Mr. Pettaway, for your unwavering support and for always lifting our spirits!

Reminder: No School on Monday, September 2, 2024!
As we enjoy the long weekend, let's take a moment to honor and appreciate the hardworking individuals who keep our communities running strong. Thank you to our dedicated labor force!

Good morning, Carver families! If your child rides Bus 389, please know that it is running about 30 minutes behind due to mechanical issues. Thank you for your patience!

Please review G.W. Carver's arrival procedures. Students may enter the building beginning at 7:30 am. All car riders, walkers, and visitors must enter through the front door and the EVOLV machine. Bus riders will enter near the bus lot using other safety protocols.
We can't wait to see all of our Eagles on Monday morning!

Please review our afternoon dismissal procedures. Remember that students cannot be checked out through the front office after 2:45 pm.
In case of an emergency transportation change, please contact the school before 2:00 pm (this includes sending messages to teachers on the ECPS app requesting a transportation change as teachers may not have access to check their messages after 2:00 pm). This time is needed to record the transportation form, which will be shared with your child’s teacher by 2:45 pm.
Please be patient as we streamline our dismissal routines.

Please help us in congratulating ECPS's Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Tamika Farmer. We are so proud of you, Mrs. Farmer.

Under the guidance of ECC instructor Kevin Strickland, construction students at SouthWest Edgecombe High School are adding the final touches on their “dogdominium.” They're gearing up to showcase their incredible work at next week's North Carolina SkillsUSA competition in Greensboro, NC! This week, 6th grade students visited Medoc Mountain State Park where they were able to go on a hike, explore their surroundings, and engage in outdoor activities as they summarized their reading of the novel "Hatchet".
